He can, if he is patient and persistent! It looks like it was ripped into quarters at some point, and then two of the sections further ripped up, like maybe Ritsuka had gotten tired or bored of the effort partway through.

[does anything happen once it's whole again?]

There is a lot of mixed feelings that come from this--a sense of unease and confusion, kind of like the swooping feeling that comes when you make a wrong step. But it's not all bad, either; there's something kind of curious, kind of hopeful, though it is pretty buried under the general sense of ???!???

he beings, wincingly and carefully, to try to dissect the room looking for the ring. trying his best not to disturb anything unnecessarily.]

It's a very cute room, okay. There is SO much stuff in here, including flashes of colors that he should recognize as corresponding to the various teams in Reverie. There's at least one representative for each team, if he looks.

[checks the yatagarasu one, just cuz]

There are three! If he is patient in his looking, he will find:

A bonsai tree, struggling, scraggly, but somehow still strong, with a Caster symbol etched into its pot.

A little Joltik plushie, wearing a white train conductor's hat that has a Caster symbol on it.

A delicate-looking star-shaped white flower, with a Saber symbol tied to it with a strip of ribbon.

Not that he would necessarily recognize the symbols, though there is at least a sense of deliberate sorting for them.

[huh. he spends a moment trying to match what to whom and then moves on

The bonsai tree in particular feels somehow familiar to him, if he holds it for longer than a couple of seconds.

But there is SO much stuff in this room. Why would a girl have this much stuff.

[any jewelry boxes on an armoire? bedside table? aaaa]

It doesn't appear she has anything like that, though that tentacle is still definitely watching his every move.

[against his better judgment. approaches the tentacle]

Can you speak?

It waves at him, like a catspaw waving, but there is no vocal answer.

[getting closer]

Can you understand me, then? Two waves for yes?

There is a pause, and then it waves at him twice, twitching the tip of one tentacle.

Excellent. Then—

Would you happen to know where a ring is?

There is a longer pause, and then another two waves. This is much more tentative, like it isn't sure if it should be answering him.

I think I need it to help Ritsuka. Wandering around this place certainly doesn't seem to be helping.

It sort of sinks in on itself, a fat little ball shape (or close, ish, to one), all of those eyes still staring at him.

Really. I just want to help.

The tentacle does not appear to be terribly convinced, but after a couple of seconds, it does start to beckon him closer.

[walking up to it!]

It rears up a little, like it's trying to make itself seem bigger and more intimidating, but honestly--all things considered that could be possible, it does not. It's only maybe about half the length of a man's forearm, from elbow to fingertips. Those eyes are perhaps the most intimidating part, all sharp and unblinking and staring at him.

Do you know something that could point me toward the ring?
