It rears up a little, like it's trying to make itself seem bigger and more intimidating, but honestly--all things considered that could be possible, it does not. It's only maybe about half the length of a man's forearm, from elbow to fingertips. Those eyes are perhaps the most intimidating part, all sharp and unblinking and staring at him.
It shakes itself back and forth, like a kid shaking its head vigorously no. But it does try to keep itself as hunched down as close to its own base as possible.
It stays still for a very long few seconds, and then finally, as if greatly resigned, it sort of--hops backwards a little. It's graceless, because it's such a small awkwardly-shaped thing, but it still does. And when it moves, he can see that it was, in fact, sitting on the ring the entire time.
It does bristle at him, but it doesn't try to stop him as he takes it.
The ring itself is a heavy gold band, unadorned, but if he can sense magic at all, it is intensely powerful. This might actually be a divine construct, let's be honest.
When he returns, the man in red is still hard at work cooking. It appears he has moved on from curry to something that is being deep-fried. He's made up some salads, too; the board games have been cleared away for what looks like a Lot Of Food.
The ring gets an instant reaction--the man in red actually jerks up to attention, wide-eyed, looking kind of like he wants to snatch it and throw it away, and also like he doesn't want to be anywhere near it.
"--All right, never mind that," he says, waving a hand. "There's legends about an ancient king who was greatly favored by his god, to the point where he was given ten rings, as a sign of their covenant. Supposedly at the end of his life, he returned them to the heavens, but..."
He gestures to the ring in Des's hand.
"These things sometimes have a way of winding up in places where they don't necessarily belong."

Re: MY ROOM
And now what do I do with this. Am I supposed to kill the King of Mages with this ring. What.

I, err, I found what I was looking for. What do I do with it?
Re: MY ROOM
"Well--what was it, first?"
Re: MY ROOM
[showing it]
I can barely stand to hold it. I have no idea what it's capable of.
Re: MY ROOM
"That thing? That's what he used? Seriously?"
