I don't know all of what his deal is... but he seems to be mostly at peace with himself. More than some of the other Servants in Chaldea, for sure. It's kind of like--I dunno, sort of like having a senpai in all of this, even though he's a Servant.
He's definitely like a big old mother hen either way, though.
I don't think it's anything he's doing on purpose. He usually tries to play it off as like-- it's better to be efficient, you can't function properly if you don't eat, if you mess up there are bigger consequences than just for you... that kind of thing.
He's the kind of guy who's kind, but doesn't want other people to call him out on it.
Emiya Shirou. I don't remember much about ... what life was like back then, but I was summoned to a Holy Grail War that had him as one of the masters. So I know a bit what it was like because of that.
