There is no answer, but at the sound of her name, those whispers grow louder, fiercer, angrier--but still not enough to make out any distinct words just yet. Just a sense of fiercely angry resentment at his presence here.

Ahead, though, there is a firefly spark of light.

It resolves, after a few seconds, into the shape of a man, who appears less than pleased to see anyone else out here.

"You should not be here," he says. "There is only despair in this place."

I'd love to leave, actually, but I'm looking for something. The King of Mages? Or Ritsuka . . .

His expression grows grim for a moment. "The King of Mages has already had his way in this heart. To find him, you will have to walk through this road of damnation with your head held high, without turning back. Are you so prepared to do that?"

The man raises an eyebrow. "Are you so certain? This is not the place for the weak of heart. If you wish walk the path of Hell, you must be prepared for what it may bring you."

I'm quite certain. I'm just not happy about it. Allow me that, at least, and show me the way.

"Very well!" He laughs at that, a louder, ringing noise, echoing--and then he pivots on his heel sharply. "Do your best to keep up! There is still a long way to go."

It's not really a good time, as warned. The smell is better with the man around, but the path is still a slog, and the whispers are loud, hissing and cruel, in the darkness. If he looks to the side, in either direction, he will be able to see shapes out there, slightly blacker things against the dark, that appear to be watching the two of them in their progress.

And there are things in the muck, trying to grab at his ankles, grasping, tugging to try and slow him down.
