Ritsuka... is the sort of person to hold back on a lot of stuff so long as she can help the people around her, I think.

It's definitely the thing that doesn't belong here, with the rest of Ritsuka's things. And it's got a shit attitude to boot.

... I don't know, to be honest. But I know that Ritsuka... wants to try to work things out with him one way or another, bad attitude or not. I want to respect that as much as I can, somehow.

The feeling he gets, the longer he holds the dog, is a sense of affection for sure, though muted--it takes a couple of seconds for that to come in, along with a sense of general bewilderment, and under that, very faint, almost buried, a sense of... well, it might be fear? A fear that is not really powerful, but still there.
