[ sometimes you just can't accept the future to be anything but what you know it has to be... he figures Ritsuka would understand the better than most. ]

Yeah... it feels pretty lucky to have that, honestly. And--even more than that, we'll have so many people in so many different worlds who feel that way.

Yeah. Even if I wish--

[ No. She pauses at that, then laughs a little, shaking her head. ]

Well, it doesn't matter what I wish. I'm not unhappy with what I've gotten to have, here.

[messianic]

[ ... hm. ]

... Is it okay if I ask? Maybe... maybe it doesn't matter. But... I'd still like to hear it.

[ She's quiet for a long time, mulling it over, and then she lets out a breath that isn't exactly a laugh, shrugging. ]

I guess--I just wish that someone would be willing to come help me. But that's not something I can ask for. Not with the way things are--it has to be the other person's decision. I can ask for a lot of things, Minato-kun, but I can't ask for that.

[messianic]

[ ... he wishes he could offer. With all of his heart and soul--but the Seal needs that very soul to remain intact, and so there's only one place he can go after this. The yearning is palpable, but tempered by resignation to a different fate that he's already chosen. ]

... I understand.

[ softly, a little sadly, but with fondness. He can't be that for her, but... he can still hope that someday, someone will. He respects this about her, though--that she understands just how important it is that it's their choice. ]

For a choice that monumental... it'd have to be their choice. ... Maybe someone will surprise you, here.

[fujimaru]

Maybe... I'm not holding my breath.

[ She'd entertained the hope for maybe a day--but she knows better. It's not something that she can ask for, or resent if no one asks her in turn. There is a chance that she'll survive everything and succeed... but there's a greater chance that she won't. There are no expectations. ]

But if people remember me now and then, I'd be more than happy for that.

[messianic]

I can promise... at the very least, that I'll always remember you.

[ for whatever consciousness he's allowed. In a way, he thinks that means she'll be remembered for a very, very long time. ]

You're way too Ritsuka to forget.

What's that supposed to mean?

[ She laughs aoutright at that, giving him a little nudge with her elbow. ]

It's not like I'm the same as any other Ritsuka out there! Even the spelling's different from the most standard.

Right, that's exactly what I mean.

[ a solemn nod, even though he takes the elbow without trying to dodge. ]

You're so aggressively yourself that now... there will always be things that make me go "Ah, that's just like Ritsuka", you know?

[fujimaru]

That just makes me sound like I'm impressive or something.

[ She elbows him again, then just leaves her arm there, because what else is she supposed to do? ]

[messianic]

[ serenely: ]

You are. You're impressive in a way only you can be.

[ since her arm is there, he'll go ahead and just link their arms at the elbows casually. comfy. ]

You know what I meant by that.

[ But even though she grumbles, she's fine keeping their arms hooked. This is just fine. ]
