I'd take tea! That way I can pretend I'm being a little virtuous.

[ The first thing Ritsuka does is drop the bag and start unpacking it. There are three kinds of cup noodles, including an intimidatingly-spicy looking thing, and also a whole variety of different chips, some in some unique flavors. ]

[psynchroneyes]

Got it—coming right up.

[ She'll get to work on that, meanwhile! ]

[fujimaru]

[ This is the best way to bond, you understand, food and hanging out; Ritsuka is humming cheerfully as she gets the noodles set up and the chips on display. ]

[psynchroneyes]

[ Oh yes, absolutely. Just girls hangin' out.

Eventually, Mizuki appears to set two cups down upon the table. It's a tasty (your tea flavor of choice). ]

There. Piping hot tea, a toasty kotatsu... This is what life is all about.

[fujimaru]

Don't forget the snacks! Those are also important.

[ They've got tea and cup noodles. At least one of those chip flavors is weirdly sweet, so that probably counts for dessert. ]

[psynchroneyes]

Definitely. They're saving me from starving, and no amount of tea would dot that!

[fujimaru]

Right, right, you can't just live on tea alone.

[ She snaps her chopsticks apart, because getting those cheap wood ones is just part of the experience. ]

Even chazuke has more than just tea in it.

[psynchroneyes]

[ Where would we be without cheap wooden chopsticks. ]

Now I wish there was some leftover rice in the fridge... I should start making extra, since we can't order takeout whenever we want here.

[fujimaru]

Right? I live with a bunch of really talented cooks, but sometimes you really just want cheap junk food. But the closest we've gotten to that here is that we briefly had a standard combini.

[psynchroneyes]

Ruggie really spoils me, but he left earlier… [ No one here to make dinner when she wants to be lazy under kotatsu. ] What happened to the combini?

[fujimaru]

Eh, that's not very nice of him.

[ She says this very seriously. Oh no. how could Ruggie have done this, ]

Anyway, it was in that weird alternate prison we were in for a couple of weeks. Honestly, the diner is a lot nicer, but I still miss some of the stuff in that combini.

[psynchroneyes]

[ Right? How could he?? How dare he have dinner plans elsewhere in Mizuki's time of need????? ]

Oh, that place again... Yeah, I think I'd rather have combini food because I want to, not because I have to. That'd get old real fast.

[fujimaru]

It was the only thing we had to eat for all meals for like a week... it sucked.

[psynchroneyes]

But it could've been worse, right? From what I heard about the place, I'd expect prison slop.

[fujimaru]

It could've been a lot worse. ...Honestly, the thing about it wasn't that it was horrible, it was just--really inconvenient. This village is practically a resort, right? We get so much freedom to move around and ask for things. That other place was just--lots of little petty unpleasant things.

[psynchroneyes]

So what was the point, to make you miserable for a little bit?

[fujimaru]

I think it was a little more involved than that. That was around when the Warden was trying really hard to make our possessions take over us.

[psynchroneyes]

Oh, right. And then that weird palace stuff happened too, didn't it? Everything now sounds so quiet in comparison. Mostly.

[fujimaru]

Yeah, that wasn't fun... even if things around here are quiet, my ridealong hasn't stopped complaining about it.

[psynchroneyes]

... You have one of those?

[fujimaru]

I mean, you know.

[ She taps her temple. ]

The possessions that the Warden gives us? I already knew mine from before.

[psynchroneyes]

Oh, that's what you mean.

... Yeah, I guess they are ride-alongs in their own way. I usually think something along the lines of freeloader.

[fujimaru]

I dunno, we're all technically freeloaders except for the people on Echidna.

[psynchroneyes]

Is it freeloading if it's against your will?

[fujimaru]

I think it depends on who you ask.
