There's no verbal answer, but that little figurine actually turns a little at the sound of his call. All of those hundreds of bright red eyes are fixed right on him.

It waves even more at him. He might get the feeling he's being flipped off.

[snerks and pokes at a tentacle]

What? You hungry? There's some curry in the cafeteria. But I'm looking for Ritsuka. You seen her?

Two tentacles, two middle fingers. Some of those eyes appear to be watching his curry plate, though.

I asked for "Ritsuka's favorite". So that plate's definitely just for Ritsuka.

The tentacles wiggle a little, all of those eyes trained on him now. Unfortunately, it has no mouth, so it's not like it can carry on any kind of conversation, but there is a sense of I'm disappointed in you :\ for what appears to be a bait and switch.

What? What do I get out of it if I give you the plate? I'll have to go all the way back to the cafeteria to get another!

The look it gives him, with its many, many eyes, is distinctly unimpressed, like a cat that has been interrupted from a nice nap by someone being loud.

The tentacle pops up a little at that. One could almost imagine the offended "!!!!" speech bubble.

Depending on how much he's paying attention, he can see, when it moves, the glint of something gold briefly underneath it.

[he has Six Eyes, of course he noticed it.

PULLING PLATE FURTHER TOWARD HIMSELF!]

Mmmm! Smells really good, actually!

The little tentacle waves even more fiercely; it is almost comical in its tiny, tiny fury. But while it has those limbs, it doesn't really have any way to move on its own, apparently; it's just wiggling in place as best as it can. Something is definitely scraping at the shelf as it moves.

Oh, so you do want it. 'Kay. Hold still.

[TIME TO PICK UP A TENTACLE MONSTER WHILE OFFERING OVER THE CURRY--and also grab for whatever gold thing is underneath it.]

It immediately begins to squirm like an animal that does not want to be picked up, wrapping itself as best it can around his wrist instead of going for the curry. Alarm! Alarm! Alarm?!

The gold thing ends up being a ring: heavy for its size, solid gold and unadorned.

When he sets it down, it starts thrashing again. It has noticed the ring is missing, but unfortunately for it... it still cannot actually reach him to take it back. But it WILL make its displeasure EXTREMELY well-known.

Yeah, yeah. Don't hide important things and you won't have to be manhandled.

[anyway, time to inspect the ring.]

So, you know how Ritsuka herself sometimes appears to be intensely cursed?

The ring itself is pretty ordinary in a material sense: a heavy solid gold band, without any sort of adornment, but this ring feels like both the key and the counter to unknown amounts of curses, intensely powerful. This is the sort of ring that was not made by or for humans.

It seems more interested in poking back, trying to whack his fingers with the sharp part of its eyes.

But if he looks around the room while having this little pokefest, he might see something on the wall that's on the opposite side of the bed from where he's standing.

[little pokefest is hilarious when he can't actually be poked but in fact, he does break off from the poking to go to investigate the wall.]

It appears to be vaguely in the outline of a door. The closer he gets, the brighter the outline becomes, like it's trying to come into existence and just can't manage, quite yet.

looking to see if maybe there's a key hole or a symbol or something?]

There does not appear to be, though he will notice that if he moves further away from the wall, the outline begins to dim.
