NOVUM CHALDEA

You find yourself in what appears to be standing on the walkway in a strange room. The floor is tile except for the rough stone ring that surrounds the middle podium that is immediately in front of you. You have the strong feeling that something should be in the middle of that ring, but it stands completely empty. When you walk around the tall, strange striped walls (they hum with a low-grade steady vibration the whole time, an energy buzz, glowing a faint bright blue), you can find a flight of narrow stairs that will take you up to the four doors you can see from your starting point.

Along with the low-grade buzzing of the walls, there is the sound of distant voices murmuring, but you can't see anyone around, other than what companions that might have stumbled in at the same time as you.

It feels like home, but also not quite right, like someone has come through and just subtly rearranged the furniture when you weren't looking.

[WHAT THE HECKIE IS ALL OF THIS, honestly

...he's going to step into the center of the ring to see if he can sense anything past "something should be here," first off...]

WHAT THE HECKIE!!

As he approaches the ring, and as he steps into it, he sees a ghostly image of something. The sight of it feels right, somehow--the thing that should be here, but it's not. It lingers after a blink like a ghostly image, but that's all it is.

[Hold on, setting description. Ingo Pokemon is going to immediately check that his brother and girlfriend are here instead.]

[ Brother is here and is currently craning his neck to look around. whhhh. ]

[ Girlfriend is here! And looking not at all surprised, even as she glances around. ]

[dang this is the future

can she inspect the ring? to check if there are fresh or faded markings there, or if anything maybe has just fallen out of the ring and is lying nearby...]

There does not appear to be anything that indicates something has been removed, just the sense that something should be there and is not. Something is missing.

If she gets close to the ring, then she will have the image, ghostly there and gone, behind her eyelids. It lingers after a blink, but that's all it appears to be.

Forward! If he's headed up the stairs, there are four doors, which we will be arbitrarily labeling as left, right, top, and bottom.

Not even the fun kind of naked in here...

Because it's Da Vinci, she is the only one here who will recognize the image of Chaldeas as she gets closer to the ring. Even years after the fact, there is the sense of something missing without it there.

[ oh whoa. Sci-fi-esque.

Naturally he is going to try to go touch the glowing walls as he reorients himself. ]

It's pretty wild! Touching it gives him a kind of muted static shock, a buzz from the energy that is humming in the walls. It doesn't hurt, but it will leave his fingers a little tingly-numb in the aftermath.

Christ, I hate metaphysical shit...

[Investigating the middle podium seems like a good first step. Looking for any marks for something that might have stood here. Hurf.]

There do not appear to be any signs that something was moved, recently or at all. But as he gets closer to the podium, there is an image, ghostly there and gone, of what this place "should" look like. The item isn't there even if he reaches out to it, but seeing it has a sense of rightness to it.

They are not any voices she will recognize. Most of them sound pretty annoyed and confused, but some of them actually sound relieved for some reason. If she focuses very carefully, she can hear Da Vinci's name being mentioned.

[it's definitely Akira now; his hair is the usual length, with no shadows creeping up his cheeks or his hands. he doesn't seem to be surprised about where he's wound up-- not because he's familiar with the location itself, but more because. . . well, he knows how Palaces works!!]

[which means he is immediately trying the obvious-]

RITSUKAAAAAAA ARE YOU HERE???

[. . . by yelling her name at the ceiling to see if she responds]

His voice echoes back at him, over and over... and when it fades out, for maybe five seconds, it is dead silent, even the other voices gone quiet for a moment.

She does not answer. :(

Unfortunately, there is none from the podium itself... but the voices around them are louder now, more excited than before.

Ritsuka, though, starts walking for that empty space with the podium, not letting go of Minato's hand. ]
